There will be multiple Game Masters (or GMs) that will govern the universe of HetaQuest. They will be a fair, unbiased, select few that will be hand picked by myself. These Game Masters will be the NPCS (shop owners, beggars, normal citizens, random employees—General characters, you know?), they will award characters with HetaCoins when reasonable, they will reward you with reputation points, and they will cause random events to befall certain characters.
{i.e. Alfred is walking through a forest.
[GM] -An old man is seen up ahead.- }
If Alfred chooses to see what's up, whatever happens to could either benefit him or hurt him. What determines what's good or bad is how creative the RPer is.
i.e. "Alfred walks up the old man." BAD.
i.e. "Alfred is quick to make way to the old man, his heroic instincts boiling and urging him to aid the man from any inconvenience the elder would be in. However, his hasty approach disabled him to observe the classic animal trap laid out and ready to snatch whatever and whoever was idiotic enough to stroll into such an obvious device. Needless to say, Alfred fell victim to this. The vine rope looped around his ankle in a vice grip, much to Alfred's surprise. He twisted into an upside-down position in mid-air and hung aimlessly from the sturdy tree trunk above." GOOD.
Good, creative responses to random events dished out by GMs will be rewarded by beneficial events for the character. Vice versa for bad responses.
i.e. {Bad route worse-case-scenario} The old man turns out to be an assassin send by a tribal clan to eliminate any intruders. Cue the battle scene.
i.e. {Good route} The old man is actually an old man. He helps Alfred down from the animal trap. After apologizing profusely, he offers Alfred a meal and a place to stay for the night. If you're on a quest, the old man might know some information as to how to complete the quest, or perhaps he will offer you an item to help you out on the quest.
The purpose of these GMs are to reward creativity, as well as encouraging other to do so in order to enhance the RP experience.
GMs are unbiased.
GMs will not screw you over randomly. We offer you the wrong direction, and if you take it, only then will we screw you over. /shot
GMs will not use their own characters as a vessel for our mischievous antics. We will manipulate the evil. Not embody it.
GMs will not succumb to whatever kiss ups you have to offer. Do so and we will smite you.
